You are invited to take part in the 2017 Lakes Members’ Charity Golf Day for Children’s Cancer Institute!
Why are the Members of the Lakes holding this event?
The Lakes Members are proud to showcase our course, clubhouse service and function facilities in support of Children’s Cancer Institute Australia (CCIA). The Charity day is a great opportunity for our members to rally together in support of CCIA, who work to directly benefit members of our golfing and local community.
Our aim is to deliver a substantial financial contribution to help Professor Orazio Vittorio’s research. Orazio is currently researching the role of copper in cancer to develop a new targeted therapy for glioblastoma, a highly aggressive brain cancer.
Our pre-established reputation within the local community will be enhanced by The Lakes members support of this event. The Lakes Members will also be helping benefit many young cancer patients for years to come as well as further research by CCIA.
Led by The Lakes member Scott Miers, the Charity day is organised by fellow members in response to a tender to the Board of The Lakes Golf Club. The Board supported Scott’s proposal and hope the Lakes members similarly endorse the Biennial Members’ Charity event. Scott is a long-standing member of the Lakes, joining in 1983. Scott is a passionate supporter of Children’s Cancer Institute, originating from specialist care provided to his daughter Sarah throughout her treatment for a brain tumour. Scott has been involved in fund raising initiatives for Children’s Cancer Institute, most recently successfully completing a solo English Channel swim in 2014.

The Lakes Members’ Charity Golf Day supporting Children’s Cancer Institute
Thursday, 27th July 2017
18 holes of Golf (shot gun start at 11am)
- 4 ball teams and individual
- Prizes for longest drive, NTP and other fun activities
- Lunch provided prior to the start of play
- Drinks and food provided throughout the game
Dinner (6pm)
- 3 course dinner with beer and wine
- Live auctions with major prizes
- Silent auction and raffle
