The Lakes Medal – 2019 Results

The Lakes Medal is a NSW Vardon Trophy event for elite level amateur golfers with a Golf Australia Handicap of 4 or less, and is contested annually on the first Sunday in February.

This year was one of the strongest fields in recent times, with players travelling from throughout the State to have the opportunity to test themselves on a true Championship course. A course that hosted the 2018 Emirates Australian Open Championship some 11 weeks prior. Included in the field were twenty-four Members of The Lakes, all of whom were tested by the tough ‘Black Tee’ course.

Scoring proved difficult for the talented field, despite the conditions being perfect for golf. A very light breeze coupled with sunshine and warmth meant that the course was gleaming for the 90 competitors who teed it up this year in the 2019 Medal. Local knowledge went a long way in 2019, with three Members of The Lakes making the top 5. Congratulations go to Tom Kadiev (2nd), James Rayner (4th) and Andrew Galligan (5th) for their solid play.

The Champion golfer of 2019 went to Kooindah Waters Golf Club member, Lloyd Radcliffe, who had an excellent score of 1 under par, 71.

“I’ve walked this golf course many times before but today was my first in playing this terrific golf course. Thank you to all who made today’s event happen” Lloyd mentioned in his post round speech.

Congratulations to Lloyd and all the other winners of today as well as the other participants in the field.

We look forward to hosting the 2020 Lakes Medal next February.
