Ladies Visitors Day 2019

The 2019 Ladies Visitors Day was held on Tuesday 21st May. 96 Ladies were in attendance for this year’s event which this year’s theme was a Black & White Ball themed event.

The day started out with magnificent weather with the sun shining and crisp winter weather, however, a severe smoke haze blanketed the course and suddenly the sunny, blue skies were no longer visible.

The competition for the day was an Irish Team Stableford which is the best two scores per hole out of the four players. The novelty competition for the day, and the one that all in attendance were excited in trying was a modified version of a eclectic competition. However, this version involved each player picking 7 of their favourite holes, combining the scores from the other players in the group and totalling their scores to make one. The highest total would win the ‘Dance Card’ prize.

Complimentary muffins and many photos were taken out on course whilst the players were playing. Adding to the theme of the day, all the Golf Shop team dressed up in Black and White to get in the spirit of the event which was very well received.

Taking out the main prize for the day with 90 Stableford points on a countback were Fiona Cottrell, Louise Geldens from Avondale GC, Louise Murray and Anne Ferguson from Royal Sydney GC. They managed to nudge out the team of Sylvia Gering, Beth Xu from Moore Park GC, Robyn Edson and Laurel Lawrence from Long Reef GC.

The Dance Card winners were Lucia Haigh, Qingwen Zhao, Belinda Brooks and Agnes Levine with a total score of 50 points. Chairing the presentation in the Banksia Room was Women’s Captain Margie Happell, who had the ultimate decision of deciding the ‘Best Dressed’ prize.

Margie ultimately awarded the team of Liz Clemow, Megan Kennedy, Kathie Hunt and Sue Durst this prize.

Golf was followed by an exquisite two course lunch served in the Banksia Room which was prepared by our Executive Chef, Gavin McKevitt. Lunch was also accompanied by some very rehearsed dance routines which occured on the dance floor in the middle of the room. The vibe was happy and everyone embraced the annual theme of this great event.

Congratulations to all the ladies who played on the day and particularly those who were crowned the winners. We look forward to hosting Ladies Visitors’ Day again in May 2020.
